Represented University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and GRASP Laboratory at the Expo, performing robot demos and explaining to kids and adults from across the nation legged locomotion and bio-inspiration.

GRASP Laboratory Art Residency Mentor

Three artists joined the lab for about a month each and were tasked with learning robotic methods and philosophies from PhD students mentors, while the PhD students are meant to benefit from interacting with and learning from the artists. The project culminated in a joint gallery of the artists’ work. I mentored artist Kat McDermott.

Research Experience for Teachers Mentor

This program brought local middle school teachers to Penn’s GRASP lab to do a summer research project in robotics and take a critical thinking for research course. The goal of the program was for the teachers to immediately bring the research process into their classrooms.

Robot Advisor and Wrangler for film Lapsis directed by Noah Hutton

Joined the team of the movie Lapsis. Noah reached out and brought us in early to include RHex robots into their film as a robot representation of the unrelenting oppression of capitalism and the future of the gig economy. We met with Noah to discuss the role of robots in the film and society and were present for filming, controlling and repairing the robot for the film.
